It is the first day of Taekwondo after almost 2 months off. We got to work out with the white belt class because the room they were supposed to be in is under construction today. Dr. Lieu went the extra mile to make sure we were all warmed up and stretched. The side situps almost killed me. When does one ever really get to use the side stomache muscles anyways?

Kevin was my partner for the partner exercises. I found out that I am a natural at hand sparring where we stay in push-up positions and try to slap the other person's hand. I got 12 points in a row! Then Master Yoon moved us up to knee sparring where we tried to slap each other's knees while in a squat position.  Next was shoulder sparring. Kevin had an advantage there as he is taller by a 6 inches. In spite of that, I got in some good slaps, including an inadvertent one across his face. Oops! It was a mistake - honest! Then, it was paddle drills!  Yippee!  I love paddle drills! Still have to work on that left spin hook though.

Lydia was there. Lydia and I are about the same height and weight, so we like to partner up. She is also just really nice. I told her I was thinking of taking Hankido. Lydia is a Blue Belt in Hankido (Black Belt in Taekwondo) although she has not done Hankido for a couple of years. She said she is psyched to start again if I am in it. Yippee! Misery does love company (at least sore muscles love company)!
