Nasty traffic on 880 kept us from arriving at Zellerbach in due time, and we walked into the show just moments after the band came on-stage to play.

I'd been looking forward to tonight's show for awhile, and Chucho et al came through big time. Every time I see Chucho I come away amazed. His command of the keyboard is jaw-dropping, and his sense of musical adventure leads to a very interesting place where jazz, cuban and classical music collide and spin off into dazzlingly beautiful fragments.

Sadly, my ignorance of his tunes means I can't relate much of a setlist, but the band played for nearly two hours, consisting of a long set with two encores. Salsasf.com had a great review of the show entitled Chucho Valdes & Quartet and the SF Chronicle had one entitled Chucho Valdes Gets Berkeley Crowd Jumping.

Afterwards, Ting and I visited Viet Nam Village for a late dinner of spring rolls and such. Mmmmmmn yum!
