It was a slow day for work at Vogel & Associates, so Kirsten and I decided that we would take Fiona and Grandma Read out to Golden Gate Park for an afternoon picnic. We picked up supplies at the Trader Joes near Geary & Masonic, then picked up Grandma Read from Eden Villa and drove over to Stowe Lake in the park.

As you can see from the photos, the weather was downright uncooperative -- a cold and damp April day -- but we were well bundled up and stayed warm despite the chilly air.

Blooming plants provided plenty of photo opportunities, but something seems to have been screwy with the camera's autofocusing mechanism, as many of the photos show a weird depth of field, placing the focus on background greenery rather than foreground flowers, for example. Still, the collection should give a sense for the amazing variety of flowers in the park... all of these photos came from an area not much larger than a tennis court.
