## Notes

Performed as a single set suite, tonight's presentation of Terence Blanchard's masterpiece, _A Tale of God’s Will_, was simply stunning. His orchestral writing struck me as very emotive, and the integration of the two groups was excellent, almost as if the suite was conceived of as a Concerto for Jazz Quintet and Orchestra. Makes me think I should make time to watch Spike Lee's 2006 documentary, _[When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000J10F14/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000J10F14&linkCode=as2&tag=ffhq-20&linkId=WM7HKMKXF2FNMOHB)_, that served as the impetus for Blanchard to write the original score that was adapted into tonight's entertainment.
