Oh well! The crowd that turned out was certainly happy to be present, dancing and singing along when asked to participate. On the other hand, some of them wanted to talk, or text, or sing out of tune -- I suffered our neighbors in this for about 10 minutes, then moved several rows back for quieter surroundings. I was glad to have previewed his two latest albums in the past couple days -- it helped me enjoy the show better to hear a few recognizable tunes. I was surprised to find out that Dony Medina played only a single large drum rather than a trap set. Shows my ignorance of garifuna tradition! I'm also baffled why Carlos Moralez wasn't listed as tambor segunda -- it sure looked to me like he was playing the same kind of drum as Dony. Time to do more ethno musicological research! Carlos Montalvo posted a nice [promo article](http://www.sfstation.com/2015/08/04/honduran-guitarist-aurelio-martinez-brings-afro-caribbean-sound-to-sfjazz/) and interview at SFSTATION. Back to the previous event! ☸ Up to the 2015 yearbox! ☸ Up to the 2015 event list! ☸ On to the next event!
