I liked them enough to be interested in hearing more, though not necessarily enough to look for them as a headliner. Maybe in a couple years! Listeners trickled in slowly, and there was a healthier crowd present by the time the Suspects took the stage. Seems like they could have used a bit more promotion, but looking on the bright side, it was a decent turnout for a Sunday night. Anyways, the band laid right into it at 9:01 PM, starting off with the hot instrumental, _Grits_, and then proceeded to zig-zag their way through an assortment of covers and originals over the next two hours. I find Willie Green's drumming simply irresistible -- that beat just kicks me in the butt and lifts me up -- so much fun that I forget all about the aches and pains of everyday existence while I'm shaking my bones to that beat. And having played together for four or five years now, the band is well on the way to really developing that telepathic intuition that evidences as magical transitions from one performer to another, as particularly evidenced in the romping conclusion of _Willie's Second Line_ when they start trading eights or fours. Blew my mind, yeah! I'm already looking forward to seeing them when they come back in January. Should be another real fun time. Back to the previous event! ☸ Up to the 2015 yearbox! ☸ Up to the 2015 event list! ☸ On to the next event!
