As I suspected at the first announcement, this event came as more of a vanity recital than a serious show: a chance for two semi-privileged groups (sports and music stars) to mingle and have fun. The audience was a strange mix too. Plenty of regular 'heads, but also knucklehead sports fans and a few high-dollar donors unclear on the concept that general admission doesn't mean that everyone gets to stand in the very front.

I'd assume that audio of the show was recorded, but I didn't inquire as to whether any of the other usual suspects were doing so. There were multiple cameramen recording throughout the night, and as I vaguely recall seeing a "you will be videoed" notice at the entrance, I'm guessing that the intent was to document things for future fund-raising purposes or a potential commercial release.

And while I was grateful that my meager donation was rewarded by a tangible bit of memorabilia, I was disappointed that tonight's "poster" was printed on flimsy normal weight paper, and had sponsor advertisement logos across the bottom. Hopefully that's NOT the new norm for the Fillmore!
