I start with that caveat because I don't generally find myself attracted to show tunes ... they might be clever, but to me, they're a lot like white bread: not very interesting. Which promptly begs the question: so why did I go? And the answer is that this was one of the shows on the CalPerfs jazz series, so I didn't select it, rather it was included amongst other choices that were attractive to me. So yeah, I tolerated the show just fine.
