## Notes

This weekend's three shows marked Gustavo Gimeno's debut as guest conductor for SFS. I liked him, but not enough to write any notes, so I have nothing to say right now. Doh! Must not have been too distracting!

I enjoyed today's program quite a bit: between the new appetizer pieces and the older mainstays, it offered good variety.

Harvey Steiman posted a grumpy [review](https://seenandheard-international.com/2021/11/music-by-ligeti-and-chin-overshadows-works-by-mozart-and-mendelssohn-at-san-francisco-symphony/) with Seen and Heard International.

Strangely, neither reviewer saw fit to mention Javier Perianes' solo turn: maybe that was a special lagniappe offered only on Sunday? In Los Angeles last week, he encored with Chopin’s Nocturne No. 20, but that's definitely not right for today -- I thought this piece sounded like Debussy. Would have been nice for SFS or JP to post something about what got played: is that asking too much?
