And we totally lucked out with a parking spot magically appearing on 18th just after we crossed Mission. Gotta love that! Inside the venue around 7:30 PM it's pretty dead just now. Less than 20 fans downstairs, maybe another dozen seated upstairs. Everyone else in the Saturday night crowd is lagging! The place slowly fills in, and by the time Kareeta hits the stage the place is around half full -- still plenty of room, but not bad for an opening act. I like their set a little more tonight than last summer: maybe the sound mix is better? I find the Chapel to be challenging as a listener: the vocal sound up front is terrible (no mid-fill, only sides). In a quiet crowd it's not so bad to head further back and get PA sound, but one yapping idiot ruins that option, and that guy seems to follow me everywhere. It's reasonably full as the Hips hit the stage, and gets somewhat packed by 10 PM. Interesting that so many folks show up late. Happily, it's a mellow crowd, and there isn't much idle chatter up close. The band turns in a solid set, with a good mix of both new tunes and older classics. Makes me glad that we rallied for the party! ## Photos Big thanks to Ting for the photo gallery! **Whoa!** This section is incomplete for now, sorry! Back to the previous event! ☸ Up to the 2023 yearbox! ☸ Up to the 2023 event list! ☸ On to the next event!
