Notes

Somehow I got the impression that tonight’s first set was a sort of “Indian classical sampler” set … shorter pieces, less development of the rag themes, and a general condensation of longer works into a somewhat more compact format for easier digestion by the crowd.

Did it work? Well, I guess. Maybe 20% of them slipped away during set break. Hard for me to know whether that’s good, bad, or just normal! And heck, maybe I just wasn't in the right mood to settle down and listen carefully enough myself.

Anyways, I found the second set to be a much more rewarding experience. Very deep! And hearing the show in an outdoor setting, accompanied by the singing of crickets and other night creatures? Sublime!

Like usual, Ravi did a fine job introducing the pieces to us rubes, but I've undoubtedly mangled the names and descriptions. Let me know if you can offer any help with corrections!
