Leading up to tonight, I was apprehensive that it was a little too soon for me to go see Mariza again, having seen her at the SFJAZZ center in mid march. But Zellerbach is a different room, and having her show bundled into one of my subscriptions, it wasn't too much of a stretch to decide I should go again.

And my evaluation? Well I was glad to go, but the audience wasn't nearly as fun-loving or boisterous as the SFJAZZ crowd, and that definitely affected Mariza's performance. She tried again and again to get folks riled up and involved, but they resisted. “We want to sit here in the dark and watch” seemed to be the unspoken wish of the collective. No singing. No dancing. No joy!

Sadly, between my inablility to hear Portuguese and a corresponding lack of attention, I was unable to parse most of Mariza's introductions, so my setlist above is just a bunch of times and unknowns. C'est la vie!
