Notes

Traffic getting here tonight was utterly hellish. Between the epic backup at the toll plaza, and the usual backup at the foot of the bridge in SF, it took us nearly an hour to cross over. Could have been a real disaster if I hadn't been checking on things. As it was, it was merely an annoyance. Hopefully things will be looser heading home in a few hours!

Sadly, the old epic is stuck in some crash after boot cycle, so I'm a little handicapped as far as note taking for tonight. At least I'll end up with a decent time log on the S4. First set was pretty darn good, makes me glad I came. It was interesting to hear that Miguel and Luciana have performance history together from their days in New York city about 10 years ago–makes me think I should go search for old recordings!

Tonight's gig was fun; I'm glad I put it on our agenda, and I look forward to hearing these artists collaborate again on future projects.

Thanks to Bill Beuttler for his review for Jazz Times – helped me fill in a few of those blanks in the setlist! Note that Tarde and Straw Hat might have appeared anywhere in that stretch from 7:48 PM to 8:12 PM – I don't have written notes to help pin things down any further.
