Notes

Third night of the Anniversary party was another epic for the ages.

Things got started kinda slow and mellow with an unhurried set from Alvin Youngblood Hart & Chris Mulé, who dropped a bunch of choice covers on us while the late-comers straggled in.

As time rolled on towards the main event, Ed treated us to a few very brief tune snippets – none were likely longer than 20 or 30 seconds – but it made for a fun time playing “Name That Tune” while we stood around socializing.

Once Kenny got around to his pre-show announcements, Dave made a game of interrupting him and then apologizing – must have been channeling Will Ferrell or another comedian, eh?

Hard to pick a particular favorite from the first set of rads tunes – I was pretty darn happy with each and every choice. Good work men!

The subsequent set was also mighty good, but I want to single out I Shall Be Released for lifting my soul towards the heavens. Yassiree, any day now, any way now…

The whole affair was so much fun that even the boys saw fit to extend things just a little once time came for the encore. Ed teased us, “One more set!”, mimicking the cries from the greedy crowd. And then just like that, Malone kicked off the Hardcore medley. Not quite a full set, but a suite chock full of musical tom foolery, greasy and rich with funky goodness.

Everybody get up an' shake your booty!

I believe we responded with appropriate enthusiasm.
