Notes

I really wasn't sure what to expect from Roger Waters' set today, except that I was pretty certain it wouldn't be as multimedia-heavy as his regular show, and in that respect, I hit the nail on the head, for there was nothing to support the songs tonight but the artistry of the musicians. Lest this sound like a gripe, I'll emphasize that this was a nice surprise. Roger has been known for putting on a killer multimedia show as long as I've known about Floyd (since hearing high school friends tell tales of an amazing flying pig, referencing shows at the Anaheim Convention Center in 1977), but hearing him without the distraction of lasers and lights and such was a new experience! My Morning Jacket was more than up to the task of covering these tunes; my favorite was the opener, Wish You Were Here, though I was also quite pleased to hear Hello in There and Forever Young – it's the unusual choices that make a Bridge concert extra special!
