Notes

What an awesome night at TXR! Lots of love in the house. More or less everybody present was relaxed and ready to party … it was that mellow pre-holiday vibe! I thought the setlists were great … lots of good variety, and some really excellent surprises, such as using Slipknot! to segue from Jack-a-Roe to Sweet Jane in the first set, or the Norwegian Wood teases that popped up during Don't Let Go (Thanks Lebo!).

I'm certain that my annotations include minor goofs of omission … I wasn't always paying careful enough attention to catch all the details as they unfolded, and as far as I know now, anything that didn't make it into my notes didn't happen!

Another truly creative bit of music-making from tonight's crew occurred while Scott Padden sang Clarence Carter's Strokin' over the top of the Franklin's Tower groove in the middle of the second set. The crowd lapped it up, and it was obvious that the band members were having fun with it too. Nice to see people enjoy their work, eh?

Liz Baqir celebrated her 50th Birthday with a merry group of heads in the dining room, and the band made sure to acknowledge her with a performance of the Happy Birthday song (and a full crowd singalong) before closing tonight's festivities with Sugar Magnolia. Yay! Good choice to send everyone off with a smile!
