Notes

Ting is out of town, so I borrow the Tesla and head to Stanford alone tonight, sigh. It's an easy drive down (after all, it's Sunday), but things are kind of a mess once I get to Stanford: apparently they've been running a big sporting event (tennis? track? I didn't bother to find out), and there are still lots of people out and about to clog things up. It raises my blood pressure a little, but I eventually make it to the charging stations on Galvez, plug in, and then hustle across campus to Braun Hall for the concert.

GB played tenor on all of the tunes tonight; on the two marked by §, he also played soprano for awhile.

Terry is resplendent in a white linen sport coat, and strangely, no hat tonight. Maybe that's a concession to the warmth of midsummer? Continuing tonight's fashion report, George sports a sharply creased black pinstripe suit over a lavender/blue dress shirt. He contrasts very nicely with Terry when they stand next to one another. Must have coordinated on that, eh? Too bad I didn't do a better job with the pictures!

There's a bit of show-biz comedy during the third tune as Terry's vocal mic begins to droop lower and lower while he sings. It's a struggle for him to drop his head AND keep playing, and eventually they stop the tune for a moment, tighten up the boom arm at the right height, and then resume playing mid-song.

I wish they'd spent a little bit of time identifying the tunes better (cause I got almost nothin' right now), but not talking and playing a lot is way better than talking too much!

On my walk back to the car, I came across a family of racoons just outside of Frost Amphitheatre. Momma heard me coming and skippered up and over the chain link fence right away, but the five little kits weren't so quick (not scared? not so good at climbing?), so I had time to get a couple blurry pictures of them up near the top of the fence while momma glared at me from the inside and chittered at the kids to hurry up. Fun times on Saturday night!
