Notes

Another Sunday evening with Midnight North. Seems like most of the new songs got repeated, but in different places, and possibly with different arrangements. Still figuring them out, I gather! It would be nice if they'd share names with us (assuming the tunes are finished enough to have names already!); for now, you'll see my lyric snippets above instead.

My favorite tonight was Midnight in Harlem – Elliott sings it beautifully, and the languid, unhurried pace was just perfect, even if it wasn't anywhere near midnight when they played it! Grahame's slide playing was also a treat: Derek Trucks is a fine role model if he's looking for experts to emulate.

I was surprised that many folks in the audience today seemed unprepared for the chill of a November evening … it ain't that hard to keep track of the weather!

Ting found that Midnight North posted the setlist on Facebook, identifying three of the tunes (marked by '¹' above) as premiere performances. Dry Town was further identified as a Gillian Welch cover (great choice!). Grahame mentioned that night that Out Sailing came from Elliott's 2018 solo album, “Further from the Storm”.
