Notes

For whatever reason, todays show ran on a more relaxed schedule than the previous shows this month, making for more time to sit around and jaw with our fellow music fans.

Eventually things got going, and the show began with a nice surprise: the Buddy Holly chestnut, Not Fade Away. Seemed to me like this one leaned less than usual on the Bo Diddley beat in favor of Lesh-inspired space jamming; regardless, it was a fun way to start the festivities. That airy, spacey groove continued with Bird Song. Perfect!

Rest of the show was darn good as well, but right now I don't have much to say about it. 39 songs in April from Phil so far … no repeats. That's a good sign! Let's see whether the guys can sustain that streak through Bicycle Day next week.
