Notes

I'm reasonably sure that Phil doesn't know Cissy Strut, but a reasonable alternative would be to say that he heard what the other guys were playing as a lead-in to Good Lovin', and so headed there, whereupon they followed. This being an unplanned diversion, it didn't last especially long (no one was ready to sing lead?! C'mon now…), and so the jam instead veered back into Shakedown for resolution. Musical catastrophe narrowly averted!

During New Speedway Boogie, I thought I heard the jam as heading towards the Other One, but it ended up as merely a flirtation, not even a serious tease.

I was expecting a bit of primal Dead for Bicycle day. While Mason's Children was the closest we got, that one certainly fits the call for psychedelic weirdness! Following up with Lucy in the Sky was a terrific surprise – I can't remember the last time I've heard that from Phil. Gotta be at least a few years!

And while it was getting a little chilly, what with the ocean air pushing fog through the bay, it felt like we got a special bonus with the last two songs, making today the longest show yet from Phil this year.
