Notes

I was a little cranky from the long drive up to Sacramento (traffic trouble AGAIN!), but we made it to town with just enough enough time to park, amble up to the venue, wait 5 min to get through the super-slow security check, pee, and then get to our seats a couple minutes before the lights came down. It was a stressful stretch, which made it hard to be in the right frame of mind for digging the music. When the show started, I thought the mix was overly compressed, with everything smushed down in order to leave room for the vocals on top. That might be good for making out the lyrics, but I didn't like it. Happily, the sound guy seemed to dial things in much better over the next 30 minutes: I was a happy listener by the time we got to Self-Inflicted Wounds.

Joe is a polished professional, and like Jeff Beck, he runs his show like clockwork. Ain't no time for him to be messing around: there's work to do! Tonight's gig was a solid two hours. Thanks Joe!
