Notes

Another really busy day! All to soon, it's time to stop work and hustle off to San Francisco for poke dinner and our show at SFJAZZ. Traffic is a bit of a mess today, but I practice deep breathing and flex my patience muscles against the tension and anxiety leaking out of the cars stuck around me. Soon enough we're parking at BART, then racing up the stairs to catch a train held just for us by an observant driver. Now that's what I call a blessing!

Civic Center station is a bit stuffy, but it's delightful cool once we reach the street – maybe mid 60's with a bit of cool breeze pushing the fog over. Perfect!

Opening night for the season, so the crowd is buzzing with excitement, amplified no doubt by the complimentary champagne being handed out in the lobby.

I'm psyched when the show begins with Dave Douglas' Alcatraz, the by-now-familiar theme song for the Friday's Live video streams. The rest of the show is good, but not quite as sharp as the opener. Methinks a bit more rehearsal time would have been a good idea!
