As best as I can recall, this was my first Phish show since seeing them at Shoreline around 2000 or so. Why such a break? Mostly because other folks were just way too fanatical, making it relatively hard for a lazy fan like me to get tickets. So anyways, I finally ended up there in the Civic, more or less dead center, about 10 feet from the rail … kinda like the old GD days, no? It was a good spot for dancing, and the crowd scene was remarkably mellow … folks around us were fairly gregarious, and while the post-show floor was a wasteland of spilled drinks and other litter, our area was still pretty clean. The show? I enjoyed it quite a bit. The first set had it's ups and downs, but that's a given, right? And while I didn't recognize a fair chunk of the tunes, they were fun to hear (and guess titles!). Was I ready to go again the next night? Nah, too run down from work and all, but from reports I heard, I guess I shoulda motivated!!
