Notes

Well I'm glad I attended tonight's show, all the more so for the surprise participation of stride piano master Mike Lipskin (absent from the bill when I bought tix) and for the revelation of Hicks recent battle with throat cancer. Dan was looking darn good, and still pretty spry for a guy in his 70's. But would I go next time? Good question! My overall evaluation is that tonight's gig was just a tad higher than ho at ho-hum on the rating scale, so, uh, no, I don't think I'll be going next time (unless I change my mind).

Best moments of the show for me were Mike Lipskin's contributions, particularly his flashy take on Handful of Keys.

Jesse Hamlin wrote a nice promo article about the event for SFGate.
