Notes

It's always a party when the Leftover Salmon boys come to town, and tonight was no exception to that rule! Zig-zagging from bluegrass to blues to psychedelia, the band kept the audience hopping all night long. Bill Payne proved to be an excellent addition to the mix, though his keyboard parts didn't always blend in smoothly with the song choices – Bill Monroe didn't carry no piano man in his bands, did he?

The first set sit-in from the Rowan Brothers was fun, and the second set appearance by Bobby Bare, Jr. for the novelty number My Baby Took My Baby Away fit perfectly within the wacky ethos of the Salmon oeuvre.

Apropro of Salmon, here's a Vimeo link to a neato animation of one of their tunes by Steven Vander Meer.
