Notes

Nasty traffic tonight (one or more accidents along I-80 in Berkeley) meant that we had to depot through SF to get to the Sweetwater. Then once we arrived, we spent awhile talking with MK, Joe and Chuck outside. Consequently, we missed nearly all of the openly set from the Delta Saints, including a ripping cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic, the Chain. Oh well, sometime you just gotta roll with the punches – I'm glad we dodged the bullet on the I-80 mess!

Happily, we had plenty of time to socialize with folks as the Saints struck their gear and PoA got set up. Not too many people in attendance tonight – maybe 100 at most? Kind of surprising to me, but just goes to show that outs worth seeking diamonds in the rough – it was great fun to be at Sweetwater without the usual crush of bodies, and absent the distracting talk of the disinterested who often show up. A real treat, in fact, though I expect that PoA was so loud I wouldn't have heard any talkers tonight had they bothered to show up.

I was mildly disappointed that the set seemed to reprise most of the tunes played at Fish Rock, but I'll limit my complaints to that comment – I'm glad I got to hear the band again! I was surprised to hear from Mark Karan that he didn't know he was on the bill for tonight's gig until he got a reminder call around lunch. Guess that's how things work in laid back Mill Valley these days! Good thing he showed up!
