First in line at ~6:20 PM – plenty of folks in the lobby at that point, but no one psycho enough to queue up early, I guess. Maybe a score are in line once the doors are opened at 6:35. First is good for my choice of non-preassigned seats, and I'm happy to grab the same pair as we enjoyed a few days ago – 4th row on Stage Right side of the aisle. Just right for enjoying the PA mix, if not quite as perfect for sight lines.
The set is great fun. Energetic and bouncy, moving back and forth between a reggae beat,a jazzy blues, and a sort of Sade-esque smooth pop sound. Seemed to work pretty good for me, especially the first two!
Gal's flute looked to me to be slightly smaller than a standard concert C instrument, but I didn't get a chance to ask about it. Perhaps it is a G treble or E-flat soprano instead? A mystery for now!
Doing a little follow-up research, I see that a few of the band members are playing with an Israeli dub band at the Brick and Mortar next week. Dang! Conflicts with Steve Winwood at the Mountain Winery. Oh well. Maybe I'll be able to fit them in next time they're on this side of the planet…
