Subject: one more try for kirov orchestra tomorrow...

yeah, that's right, i *still* have a ticket right next to me in the
middle of ?row D? for this thusday's performance by the kirov orchestra
at zellerbach in berkeley at 8 pm. At $60, it's a bit pricey, but
you never know, it might be worth every penny...

here's the spiel from the cal performances catalog:
Originally founded during the reign of Peter the Great, the Kirov Orchestra
is internationally acknowledged as one of the world's greatest symphonic
ensembles. Dynamic conductor Valery Gergiev is one of today's most
sought-after and acclaimed artists, holding positions as director of the
Mariinsky Theatre, artistic director of the Kirov Opera, and principal guest
conductor of the Metropolitan Opera. "The Kirov Orchestra is a perfectly
balanced, impeccably blended virtuoso instrument, and Gergiev plays it with
masterly elan," says the Los Angeles Times.

The Orchestra is joined in this special performance
by acclaimed Russian pianist Alexander Toradze.

Program:
Debussy/La Mer;
Prokofiev/Concerto No. 1 in D-flat major, Op. 10;
Tchaikovsky/Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64
