hi folks!

here's my latest in the extra-tickets-to-unload department. Anyone
interested?

8 pm Tues 10/16/01 Herbie Hancock/Michael Brecker/Roy Hargrove/Brian
Blade/John Patitucci @ Zellerbach, performing 'Directions in Music:
Miles Davis & John Coltrane, the 75th Birthday Celebration'
Row D, dead center, $43.20 (one ticket only)

I had the pleasure of seeing these guys two weeks ago at Villa Montalvo.
I'd go again, 'cept I'll be out of town seeing the Radiators instead.

8 pm, Sat 10/13/01 Ballet Nacional de Cuba @ Zellerbach, performing
Coppélia, featuring choreography by Alonso, inspired by Saint-Leon and
Petipa. Delibes' score sets the stage for this enchanting love story of
an ingenious toymaker who breathes life into his favorite mechanical
creation.
Row D, center, $41.40 x 2 tickets

Ting and I saw this company in '99 when they were last here, and it was
amazing enough to draw us back again...

8 pm Fri 10/19/01 Karnak @ Zellerbach.
Row D, dead center, $22.50 x 2 tickets.

No, it's *not* Johnny Carson in a turban. Here's the calperfs
description:
If you think Brazilian music is all smooth sambas and Bahian beats, you
haven't heard the sonic whimsy of Karnak, "one of the best bands to
emerge from Brazil in the last decade" (The New York Times). With a
genre-hopping eclecticism that knows no bounds, Karnak combines
everything from Russian chorus, Native American flute, and Tuvan throat
singing, to Baroque harpsichord, Arabic melodies, and Portuguese
reggae/rap to create virtuosically arranged compositions. Music critics
in Brazil voted Karnak's 1995 debut CD one of the 15 most important
Brazilian albums of the last 30 years.

drop me a line ASAP if any of these look interesting...
