                 Neil Young & Crazy Horse
                 Add Second Warfield Show
                 Updated 15:27 PST Thu, Jan 11 2001

Neil Young and Crazy Horse booked a second
unannounced concert January 11 at the Warfield
Theatre in San Francisco after catching fans by
surprise with a performance the night before.
Bay Area radio station KFOG had earlier
reported that a second concert tonight (January 11)
would be decided on "when Neil wakes up and calls
BGP (promoters Bill Graham Productions) and tells
them if he feels like doing another show."
When you're Neil Young, you can do that. And
KFOG doesn't mind a bit that last-minute concert
announcements will keep listeners tuned in for
                 confirmation, either.
Young must be a late sleeper, as the
announcement of a second gig wasn't made until
mid-afternoon - just as it was yesterday when the
                 first show was confirmed.
Word of Young's January 10 gig began trickling
out early the morning of the show, when KFOG
posted a Ticketmaster link on its Web site that
showed tickets available for the show, plus another
                 January 11.
In the meantime, Warner Bros. told Pollstar
there would be three shows in all, including a
                 Friday, January 12 gig.
However, a rep for the Warfield then told Pollstar
the shows were not yet confirmed. Shortly
                 afterward, the on-sale announcements were
                 removed from Ticketmaster's site.
Finally, at around 3 p.m., it was announced the
show would indeed go on with $20 tickets for the
January 10 show available through Ticketmaster
(though not via online sale). The same holds for the
second show, and there will be no walk-up sales at
                 the Warfield.
With reports of Young feeling a bit under the
weather on Wednesday, KFOG has reported that it
will be up to him to decide whether or not there
would be any additional shows. In other words, stay
                 tuned.
There's plenty of reason the surprise gig caused
such a frenzy among Young's fans - he and Crazy
Horse had not shared a stage since the final show
                 of the 1997 H.O.R.D.E. tour. And there's
speculation the Warfield shows could be a tune-up
for Young's scheduled Rock in Rio performance
                 January 20.
It's believed Crazy Horse will join him on an
additional South American festival date two days
before the Rio gig and on an anticipated European
                 tour later in the year.
Young was out on the road for much of 2000 in
support of his latest album, Silver and Gold, backed
up by his friends and relatives band that includes
his wife Pegi and sister Astrid. And then there was
that little reunion tour with Crosby, Stills, Nash, and
                 Young.
