An invitation to the dance, from one of American's most beloved
companies. Join the Paul Taylor Dance Company for an afternoon of sheer
beauty, exuberant fun, and a chance to learn how dances are made from a
master choreographer and teacher.

Artist Biography Paul Taylor is acknowledged around the world as a
choreographer and dancer of great talent, and an artist who has changed
the way we look at dance and at ourselves. He was born in Pennsylvania
in 1930 and enjoyed painting and creating puppet shows as a boy. He
studied painting at Syracuse University, where he won a swimming
scholarship. During his third year in college, he took some dance
classes, fell in love with dance, and left Syracuse to study dance in
New York at Martha Graham's school, the Juilliard School of Music and
the Metropolitan Opera Ballet School. He also studied at Connecticut
College and went on to dance in Merce Cunningham's newly-formed company
and then left to form his own company in 1954. From 1955 until 1962, he
was a soloist with the Martha Graham Dance Company and in 1959, he
danced with the New York City Ballet as a guest artist in George
Balanchine's Episodes. In 1969 Paul Taylor was elected to Knighthood by
the French government and has received six honorary Doctor of Fine Arts
degrees, among many other awards and tributes. Today he continues to
create two new dances each year for the Paul Taylor Dance Company. He
has also established a second company, Taylor 2, and a school of dance
in New York City, where he lives and works. Current members of the
company are: Bettie de Jong (rehearsal director), Francie Huber, Andrew
Asnes, Patrick Corbin, Lisa Viola, Richard Chen See, Kristi Egtvedt,
Silvia Nevjinsky, Andy Lebeau, Takehiro Ueyama, Ted Thomas, Heather
Berest, Maureen Mansfield, Michael Trusnovec, Annmaria Mazzini, Orion
Duckstein, and Amy Young.
