Notes

Caught one song from North Country Blue playing on the Gallery Stage in the lobby before heading out to Pollo for a gyro sandwich, then a second tune on my return about 20 minutes later. Good to see that at least some young 'uns are still interested in this sort of music!

Headed outside to grab dinner (a gyro sandwich from Original Pollo, yum!), listened to another song from North Country Blue back in the Freight lobby, then came back to find someone had tried swiping my seats by moving my jacket and book down a few seats towards the aisle. WTF? I vented my spleen at the woman standing there where I'd left my things, then reclaimed the seats once she left. The noive of some people!

I was surprised that Phoebe Hunt opened as a solo performer – having previewed her work via YouTube wherein every video that I watched featured her playing with other musicians. So this was a novelty! I enjoyed her set, but it didn't necessarily grab me as something to evangelize about: neither the words nor music made any deep impression. And while I was happy when Courtney Hartman joined her onstage, their duo performance seemed particularly unrehearsed. Stage fright? Dunno. Anyways, I found it less than compelling.

Similarly, I liked Della Mae's show, but not necessarily enough to see them again soon. The faster, driving tunes were fun to hear (Down to You, Spider Bit the Baby!), but the slower tunes didn't really grab my attention. Must be getting grouchy in my old age! I found it was satisfactory, overall, but not great. Hard for me to put a finger on the why of it, so I won't – just chalk it up to personal taste!
