Wow, I forgot how powerful the music and singing was for this opera. What a treat! Of course, with a subtitle '//Fountain of Tears//' it shouldn't have surprised me how overwhelmingly sad the mood was, but somehow I forgot that part in between first hearing the piece and then seeing it today. I *highly* recommend seeing this one if a revival comes your way. And if you enjoy spanish classical music (such as Joaquín Rodrigo's //Concierto de Aranjuez// or Gil Evans' //Sketches of Spain//), I also recommend tracking down a recording of this work: at present time, there is only one, featuring Dawn Upshaw and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. If you buy it from [[http://www.amazon.com/Ainadamar-Fountain-Tears-Upshaw/dp/B000F2CANS|Amazon]], disregard the negative reviews. Any idiot can post a comment there, and it shows! | Wow, I forgot how powerful the music and singing was for this opera. What a treat!
