Notes

A percussion extravaganza tonight!

Tough sledding if you wanted to hear much in the way of melody.

I would have been happy to hear Jack spend more time with the electronics, but I won't complain about hearing him on the traps: it was quite interesting to listen to him fill space and time without the “clutter” of melodic accompanists.

I was surprised that Savion seemed to focus on technical dance issues (playing call and response with Jack, for example) rather than engaging in showmanship.

Given his flat black, casual attire, my guess is that he was making a sort of anti-showman statement tonight: daring the audience to consider him for his rhythmic and musical talent rather than the flash and swagger typically associated with tap dancing.
