Notes

Jonah Smith opened, but we didn't get there in time to hear any of his set, on account of this other event called Hardly Strictly Bluegrass.

I wish I could relate what an awesome time I had tonight and what an epic show it was, but instead, the recollection that remains at this distant remove in time (almost 18 months later) is one of being dead tired from a day of sunshine in the park. Nearly catatonic, if not quite comatose. Seems to be the new rule: trying to squeeze more than twelve hours of fun in one day is probably gonna cause some trouble. The days of celebrating too much of everything are now long gone.

Still, I can't say I was unhappy to be present, only that I lacked the vim to properly celebrate this visit by my friends and musical heroes from New Orleans. Hopefully they won't schedule their next visit in conflict against the draw of an all day music festival!

Jon Hart has posted a fabulous stereo mix from his multitrack masters at the Live Music Archive, as well as the previous night's gig from the Abbey at Hopmonk Sebastopol. Randy says “give 'em a listen!”
