Notes

Tonight's event was interesting enough, but when it comes right down to it, for me, the expense wasn't commensurate with the reward. Each of the speakers was decent enough, and a few of the talks were quite compelling, but I don't see myself attending again unless it's as a guest. Except for a short opening segment of a few minutes, the musical component of the night was restricted to mostly innocuous background, and like the talks, just wasn't all that exciting enough. Guess I'm a bit jaded or something. It also seemed a little weird to include commercial breaks in the flow of the evening – didn't we pay enough to escape that particular form of torture? – but I suppose it's all a big experiment by the originators, and you have to give them credit for trying something new.

Would I suggest that other folks try this out in a future instance? Sure, if it sounds like something you'd enjoy, why not?
