Performers

Notes

Tonight's show was fantastic – it's impossible to resist the positive pixie vibe that Hiromi gives off, and the virtuosity of her trio allows them to perform at a jaw-dropping level of intensity. Dan Pettit had the house sound dialed in just exactly perfect – thanks Dan! – and it looked like everyone in the house was having fun.

My favorite tunes tonight were those where the trio dropped into a funky reggae groove – bouncy, irrepressibly happy, and hard not to just get up and dance. Now that I think of it, it would be cool to hear Hiromi put out an album's worth of funky reggae blues material. And nothing against her trio, but matching her up with folks like Charlie Hunter, George Porter, Jr., and, uh, Stanton Moore would be downright compelling.

Anyways, tonight's show was quite satisfying, and I'm sure I'll be back to listen on her next visit to SF.
