Notes
Although tonight was undoubtedly a bit of a let-down from the epic high of last night's show, the short early set at SFJAZZ was also a fine match for my energy level: sitting and swaying in the Henderson Lab was exactly what I needed to ease my way into the evening!
It's clear that three decades of playing together have given these guys time to develop their group intuition to a high degree, and it was great listening to them bounce ideas back and forth, or hearing them comp imaginatively underneath a wandering solo passage.
It was good of Larry to introduce the tunes, as otherwise I wouldn't have gotten any of them right; thanks!
No photos allowed tonight, but Larry is still balding and Bill retains his preternaturally boyish looks (must be those ginger genetics)!
