Notes

Met Ting a little earlier than usual and zoomed around the North Bay to get a parking spot in the front lot (!) and then a dancing spot in the rail in the middle once the doors opened. Yahoo! The stars are lined up nicely tonight!

Showtime rolls around and the guys are pretty fired up: happy to be headlining in the Grate Room instead of playing for free in the bar? I'm not sure if that's the motivation, but the playing is certainly charged with energy. Front row isn't the best place to hear the singing, and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to identify the tunes, but Brian Markovitz made things lots easier by sharing a snapshot of the handwritten list in his FB feed. Thanks Bri! I'm not 100% sure that the titles of tunes 4 + 5 are correct – those could simply be shorthand, but at least the titles matched part of the lyrics I'd scribbled during the performance.

Phil Lesh was walking around the Grate Room before the show, and at mid show he came in and sat at side stage to nod and listen to a few tunes. Given that his rig was absent from the stage, I didn't expect to see him at all tonight, so that was a nice surprise, and a good vote of confidence from the boss for Ross!

Highlight of the show for me was the slinky rendition of Don't Let Go late in the set. Hard to go wrong with a classic like that!
