Notes

I don't recall that it was particularly dark inside Dinkelspiel, but my show notes for tonight are unusually hard to read. Might have something to do with the pint of Pliny that I had with dinner at Gott's? Something like that…

Both Caravan and Skylark were radically rearranged – with the latter being particularly hard to recognize. I'll give Taylor points for pushing himself creatively, but neither effort really hit the brass ring. Good effort, keep trying kid!

And while various sources had hyped Dawn Clement as both singer and song-writer, I wasn't much taken by what I heard tonight. Her electric piano was a little too far down in the mix for me to hear most of the time, and when I could hear her, it sounded as if she was contributing tone color more than making any sort of melodic statement. Yeah well, sometimes you need to give someone a couple chances to show their strengths, right?

Brightest spot of the night for me were Jeff Parker's solos – the more I hear him, the more I want to hear him play more!

Lily O'Brien posted a promo article in advance of the show with SFCV; to date, no one seems to have reviewed the gig, a pity!
