Notes

Originally scheduled for Sunday at 5 PM, this show got moved up (on Wed 4/21) to Saturday brunch in order to avoid the tropical rainstorm forecast to sweep in on Sunday. I'm sure the band had that date swap in mind when they opened today's gig with Earthquakes, which features the refrain, “a storm is coming,” and then followed with Good Days – Good call, 'cuz unless you're a duck or a beaver, it's hard to enjoy a show in the cold and wet.

Grahame then introduced Only Children, a Jason Isbell cover, as a premiere for today. Sounded great! Isbell certainly knows how to put a powerful message into his songs, and I look forward to having him out this way once general touring resumes: maybe an invitation from Grahame would convince him to put a Grate Room show or two onto his calendar!

As much as I enjoyed the first part of the set, I really enjoyed things once Eric Krasno joined them, as the energy level for the rest of the show just blasted off skyward. Sway is a great cover choice for letting Grahame show off some of the slide guitar licks that he's picked up, and I thought that Elliott added a cool Nicky Hopkins vibe to with her electric piano – very nice! Let's do it again in a few weeks, shall we?
