The highway was surprisingly empty on my ride over to San Rafael – a peaceful post-commute ride if there ever was: wow, what a treat! Things weren't quite so mellow in San Rafael (I seem to have found more than my share of slow pokes), but it all worked out just fine, and I walked into the club just as the band was starting their first set. Pretzel Logic sounded great to me, but the vocal mix was uh, more or less buried beneath the instruments. This might have been the sound kid's first rodeo. Things improved only marginally across the course of the set, but something got changed for the better during the absolutely bonkers jam out of Shakedown, and that made a huge imrpovement over the last few tunes.

It was nice to visit a little with the guys at set break, and then with other friends who stumbled into the gig on blind luck (hearing the band while walking by outside).

Set Two was a rager. Makes me really glad I came!
