Notes

Tonight's show was quite good: I was especially happy listening to the first two Bach pieces, which socked me upside the head just exactly right.

I was a little worried that the trumpet portion of the show was going to be too loud, but Lucienne did a marvelous job managing her volume, particularly during the Copland piece when she was paired off against the much quieter English horn of Jesse Barrett.

Today's fashion report: from observation, my guess is that the NCCO dress theme tonight was to accent the usual performance black with some cheery holiday reds. It's always fun to see how folks interpret that instruction! Kayo Miki took an extra step by dangling a snowflake ornament from the scroll of her violin. Jesse Barrett definitely came across as best dressed onstage tonight, with an elf-ish tailored burgundy velvet suit. Props to him for dressing up!
