Notes

Having watched a few of the fall tour streams, the pattern of adding players at each tune of the first set wasn't entirely unexpected, and I enjoyed it for bringing variety to the sound palette as the set progressed. Greatest Story was the first real rager of the night, yum! If Bobby introduced the new violinist, I didn't notice, but I was more distracted than usual tonight – must have been those Mayan elves playing tricks on me.

It was good to chill with show pals over set break, and to set my psychic roots into the sand before the musical storm ahead. Two Djinn was a great way to restart the party: lead on, strange hero! I was really glad to have Rick Mitarotonda join the band for New Speedway Boogie, and even more pleased when Derek Trucks swapped in for him on Playing in the Band » He's Gone. It was clear that Derek had prepped for the sit in – that was a sweet half-hour! The full Terrapin Station suite came next, but I was kinda discombobulated by this point, and I failed to make note of most of the transitions between movements. The rest of the show was also good fun, and then it was time to rest before the premiere of Mickey Hart's Noche de Ondas.
