And apropos of nothing else, I wanted to post a link to a most excellent article: “Jazz Hands,” a piece about Jason Moran, that I read (on actual paper) earlier today (March 14, 2013), but the New Yorker seems to think you should pay to read the whole thing online. I suppose a dollar isn't that much to ask…

My favorite part of the article is this excerpt from an extended quote by Taurus Mateen, the bass player in Moran's group, Bandwagon:
