Notes

Another night of hectic traffic, but we got to the neighborhood just about 8 PM as planned, lucked out on a nearby parking spot, then walked up to the venue to find our buddy Phil Jaret selling his two extra tix. Wow, easy decision on that one! And typing things off, or buddy John helped out by securing a table in the balcony for us to share, so that we could rest our feet while listening to the wolves howl.

A little over an hour and more than a dozen songs for the first set made for a nice way to start things off. The band seemed to be enjoying themselves; I know I certainly had fun!

With almost two hours for the second set, you shouldn't be surprised to see that they played nearly 20 tunes. What surprised me was how many of my favorites weren't on that list! And I'm not complaining about the set by any means, just commenting that after 41 years, the boys have put together a remarkably vast book to pull songs from. I think my top choice from tonight has to be the slow burning blues of Chains of Love, which extended nearly 15 minutes from start to end , and features generous solos from all three guitarists.

Getting up this morning,a few days after the show,I was surprised to see an announcement that los lobos will be playing at Moe's in February – seems like a way too tiny place for them! Bet it will be fun!
