Notes

It was fun seeing the Carolina Chocolate Drops again – and I'm glad to see that their building their audience pretty well, as they deserve to be better acclaimed. Like many fans, I was hoping for at least one or two tunes off the New Basement Tapes: Lost on the River, but unless I was snoozing, that didn't happen. Oh well! Wrong band anyways! At least they blasted through Leadbelly's Out on the Western Plains. You gotta love that one!

On the other hand, I thought the pacing of the show suffered at times as Rhiannon or the others took a little too long to share a bit of back story. Might have been a useful dodge in order for them to catch a breath in between fast tunes, but I'd have preferred another tune or two, even if it was a dirge!

Since I was relaxing and listening tonight, my setlist is crap … I can hardly remember a fraction of what was performed, and with Rowan and Hubby trading back and forth between guitar and banjo every one or two tunes that aspect of the show also went un-noted – shoulda put myself on the job, but sometimes you just gotta be a little lazy in order to enjoy the music!
