Notes

At over a year's remove, it's hard to recall much of anything about this set, much less the entire day. Looking at the setlist above I can say, “Oh yeah, uh-huh, I vaguely recall hearing some of those tunes,” but my chief impression is that of overly smooth, melodic compositions in major tonality, relatively removed from the keening, high lonesome sound of classic bluegrass, or the rougher, darker compositions characteristic of the Appalachians. You won't find any murder ballads here – this is music for the sunny side of the street! And that's pretty much a perfect choice for a sunny October afternoon – I'm glad I was there to witness it with my assembled family of music-lovers.
